Thehive has been around for the past fifteen years and odd. To get started, it took a few seasoned but restless communication professionals deciding to turn entrepreneurs. Some really hardnosed clients and their challenging briefs got it going. An exciting body of work for a decade and a half old legacy keeps its appetite whetted. Thehive is driven by ideas. But its strength lies in its focus on the consumers of the communication. Thehive believes, that deciphering the consumer is critical before any ideation for communication even begins.

This meant working on, and contributing to, the businesses like Gillette, Nestle, Coke, Levers, Whirlpool, Oracle, Microsoft, BankAm, Beecham, STAR, ESPN, Pepsi, Apollo, Discovery, Philips, EPSON, HCL, NIIT, Bajaj, Jenson & Nicholson, Warner Lambert, ICICI, CII, Shopper’s Stop, etc. to name a few. Being a part of such corporations also led to international workshops, networking across regions, adopting ‘best practices’, benchmarking quality at global standards and above all else, passion to connect with the consumer.

To offer such a service, we have human resources and infrastructure that can handle the entire gamut of activities to the highest standard of quality. Sushil started thehive in October ’99. He quit his job at Contract Advertising- a J. Walter Thomson company- to start this venture. As a Vice President and the National Media Director at Contract, he, with his team of 62 professionals, was responsible for the Media services to all the clients in their five-office network in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Calcutta and Chennai. Contract is among the top-10 agencies in India. For over five years there, he worked on businesses such as NIIT, Warner Lambert, Bajaj, Whirlpool, ICICI, Jenson & Nicholson, Timex, EPSON, HCL, ESPN, Dabur, Discovery Channel, OCM, Braun, etc. to name a few.
Sushil was also responsible for Contract’s international interface with the JWT media network. He attended numerous workshops, in India as well abroad, to share skills while being a part of transnational teams on MNC brands.
Before Contract, Sushil was at McCann Erickson for four years. He headed the Delhi office team on Media services as a Controller. The key clients he serviced were Nestle, STAR TV, Gillette, Reckkit and Coleman, Lufthansa and Coke. Here again, he traveled extensively as he was used as a national resource, across offices.
Sushil started his Advertising Agency career at Ogilvy & Mather in 1988. Then, India’s third largest agency, Ogilvy is considered one of the better places to learn the rigors.
Prior to Advertising, Sushil spent seven years in Publishing business, marketing Indian Express, Business World and The Telegraph.
He is an Honors Graduate in Commerce from University of Delhi and also an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University where he pursued his PG in Chinese Studies.
Sushil teaches Strategic Media Planning at Indian Institute of Mass Communication-Delhi and is also a visiting faculty at MICA-Ahmedabad, DA Univ.MBA course-Indore and Symbiosis-Pune.
He is a regular contributor to trade journals on professional matters. His opinion is sought on Media-policy issues by trade bodies and media businesses.
Bloomy started her career with thehive. After spending a couple of years here as a Servicing Executive, she was snapped up by J Walter Thompson to work on their prestigious client Pepsi. After over two years at JWT/Pepsi, she moved over to Brand Management at Apollo Tyres Ltd. to handle Product Marketing & Brand Communication as a client. Her stint at Apollo gave her exposure in Sales and R&D too besides international marketing and stints in Europe. Her passion for Advertising and an opportunity at McCann drew her back to handling their largest account, Aircel in their Delhi office. Finally, the entrepreneur in her brought her home, at thehive where she had started years ago.
Bloomy is an alumnus of the prestigious Lady Sri Ram College in Delhi, followed by a PG Diploma in Advertising from the National Institute of Advertising.
She brings a very keen hands-on involvement in the business she handles. A pro active trouble shooter and dependable servicing resource, she has an amazing appetite for learning anything new.
RP has a middle name- access. It comes primarily due to his active involvement in public affairs. His activism since his student days makes him a widely networked person across the country and abroad. It is as students he and Sushil worked together for the first time, to be together, again, now. People of consequence seek him out for his views and inputs in the intricate matters of public policy as well as on-the-ground contact.
RP is a 1983 batch of B.Com honors from University of Delhi. He began his career with Indian Express group in Delhi. RP spent 13 years there and rose to become the Chief Manager Space Marketing responsible for North India.
He is a keen student of contemporary public issues. His consummate skills at people handling make him an ideal trouble-shooter. He also has an inexhaustible reservoir of stamina and patience. He is truly a multi-tasking person, if there ever was one.
